In these days of recession saving yourself money is a really smart thing to do, with prices escalating and wages either staying stationary or in some cases going down, any savings on your monthly shopping bill is a great help. Now to the crux of this article, do you realise that two things on your shopping bill that are getting more expensive are eggs and chicken (did I do that right, or does the chicken come before the egg?) Now there are varying opinions on how long this recession is going to last so why not save yourself some money by investing in a chicken coop?
You could go the easy route in doing this by buying a ready made coop, but to be honest this is also the most expensive way. In my opinion the best and the cheapest way is a Homemade Chicken Coop. Even if you are not an expert in DIY you could still have your own coop up and running in three days and enjoying fresh and free range eggs for your breakfast after a couple of weeks.
Having your own coop is a fantastic hobby, you get a tremendous amount of satisfaction from looking after your own free range chickens, nurturing them from chick to adult hen and then harvesting their eggs, you could also rear new birds as a supplement to your weekly shopping. There is also the satisfaction of the actual process of building your own chicken coop, just think about looking out into your own back yard and seeing chickens running in and out of the coop and then thinking “I built that from a set of chicken coop plans”, how good would that be? Knowing that you are helping your family save money and giving yourself a hobby both at the same time.
If you do decide to Build Your Own Chicken Coop, in my opinion it will be a fantastic experience for you, both building it and looking after the chickens that will follow. Remember though you will have to look around so as you can find out How To Build a Chicken Coop as without detailed plans it will probably not have everything you need to look after your chickens.
