The internet is flooded of ways to ‘build this’ and ‘design that’, but what about if you want to build something to your own specification? If you breed poultry, then one of the most important aspects of their existence is their chicken coops. Design it in such a way that it will be both practical for you to clean, but still comfortable for the inhabitants!

The problem is that most houses that are available are built in such a way that they are not fully functional, that’s just what to expect when looking for chicken coops. Design is the key here, you will need it to be cheap, but not built in a way that cuts corners, as you want to ensure that it is fully functional.

What is classed as functional?

Well ‘functional’ is just the overall affect you are hoping to gain from the poultry house. To start with, you need to ensure that you build it from the right materials. The most basic coops use the likes of wood and wire mesh. Of course, this is the only thing protecting the contents of the chicken coops. Design the windows and doors in such a way so that it is hard for predators to gain access. On the same note, ensure there are plenty of places that offer ventilation for the chickens.

Remember that you will be cleaning the chicken coops. Design it in such a way that that it is extremely easy to clean. Cutting corners and building the coop in a way that saves time, will just mean that it will be hard to clean and not functional.

Building a coop

There are plenty of plans related to chicken coops. Design the house based on what the plans suggest and then adapt them slightly to ensure that the coop fits your needs.
