Laying Out Your Recessed Lighting

Lay out of a plan is the most important step in the designing, or rebuilding of the house. A plan does not include only the planning of rooms; it also includes the plan for electrical and sanitary, plumbing fixtures, kitchen and supplies. Plus, it also provides a path for the interior dcor of the premises.

Decide the type of electrical fixtures to be induced and then lay out the sources, for example material and design of ceilings and additions on the walls. But in case if the decision favors for the recessed lights then determine how they have to be used. They can used for many reasons such as lighting a specific area, visual effects, making the space look bigger, or special effects such as shadows or lighting an entire room.

Task Lights are used to light up a certain area. A bright bulb needs to be used here and position the light directly above the area. Space the light across the length and making sure you have attained your purpose of lighting up everything.

Accent lights aid in the visual effects of the house or the area. They contain beam which is controlled and can light up specific areas. Normally, two similar lights at least are used at an angle to be focused at a specific area. They are used to enhance the visual effects of any master piece such as sculpture or painting.

Wall washing effects crate an image of bigger living space. Lights with a wide beam spread are used with objects in their space to illuminate as the focal point of the light. The light will light the objects including the surrounding area and would make you space look bigger.

Another technique, very soothing to the eyes, especially after the whole days work is the Shadowing or Wall Grazing. Recessed lights with narrow or spread beam are focused vertically upwards, ideally at the fireplace or brick wall. This would give a textured effect or a shadow. The result is a very cool and relaxing effect, ideally for the bedrooms, lounge, and dinning area.

Recessed lights play another major role in cutting down the glare, specially those places where work is done, such as sewing area or table, computer table, a study or work table. The light is placed behind or off to any side of the work area.

To light up the whole room, place lights in the ceilings with gaps of 4 to 6 feet either in an outside periphery or in a series. For an average 10 feet high ceiling, 6 to 8 lights are sufficient.
